The Dominican Pillar of Apostolate

““Go into the world and proclaim the gospel to every creature””
The fourth pillar is the Apostolate. The Dominican Order is a community which was founded to serve God and others by way of preaching. As such, all Dominicans, both Lay and Religious, engage in apostolates.
The apostolate is the means by which members heed Christ's calling to proclaim the Good News!
The three pillars of prayer, study, and community support the ability for Lay Dominicans to do this in whatever way and to whichever people God is calling them.
For Lay members, apostolates can take many forms, but all must be in keeping with the tenets of the Four Pillars and all must serve Saint Dominic’s mandate of preaching for the salvation of souls.
Given our unique role as lay members of the Order, capable of accessing corners of society that may be otherwise off-limits to the religious members of the Order, we are well-suited to go out into the deep!
